Steve Alker fails to back up strong first round, barely makes cut at Texas OpenGETTY IMAGES A four-over second round left Steve Alker just above the cut line at the Texas Open on the PGA Tour. But, after mixing five bogeys with just one birdie in a forgettable second round display, the 45-year-old Kiwi slid 43 places down the leaderboard. Alker finished the day at one-under overall, with the cut line at even-par, and seven shots adrift of leaders Tony Finau and Bud Cauley. Alker had made six birdies and just one bogey in round one, but that was almost entirely reversed in an erratic performance on day two. Kiwi No 1 Lee's topsy-turvy second round included three birdies, three bogeys and two doubles as he finished way down in a tie for 130th.
