Last year, Hangzhou-based Alibaba took more than 12 minutes to hit sales volume of 10 billion yuan. Sales records have been broken every year since the man-made online shopping event was introduced by the e-commerce giant on November 11, 2009. Statistics from the London-based eMarketer showed that retail ecommerce sales in China will increase by 35.6 percent this year to reach $899.09 billion representing more than 18 percent of total retail sales. By 2020 retail e-commerce sales will account for more than a third of all retails sales in China. And the first orders were successfully delivered to its buyer within 13 minutes from the start of the mega shopping event.
