Hollywood's Biggest Turkeys Of 2016: The Films That FloppedThe producers of Dear Zindagi have recovered the production budget and marketing costs after a stellar opening weekend in India and internationally, ensuring there is plenty of upside for the romantic drama starring Alia Bhatt and Shah Rukh Khan. On social media Shah Rukh expressed his appreciation for “the love this small film is getting” and his pride at being part of Gauri and Alia’s journey. Meanwhile Ajay Devgn’s action-thriller Shivaay, which co-stars Abigail Eames, Erika Kaur, Sayyeshaa and Vir Das, finally cracked 100 crore ($15 million) in its fifth weekend. That’s Devgn’s sixth film to reach that pinnacle, joining Singham Returns, which pocketed 141 crore ($21.2 million), Golmaal 3, Son of Sardaar, Bol Bachchan and Singham. Produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment and Shinde’s Hope Productions, Dear Zindagi (zindagi means life) raked in an estimated 32 crore ($4.8 million on 1,200 screens in India.
