Alfalit-Liberia has trained 216 teachers from Montserrado, Bong, Bomi, Margibi and Grand Bassa counties for its 2019 Adults Literacy Program. The newly recruited teachers were trained as part of Alfalit-Liberia’s preparation for the 2019 cycle that is expected to enroll 4,000 adult learners. The new teachers are being trained in the use of the Alfalit Model of teaching adult learners, lesson presentation from the Alfalit literacy books, while their colleagues that were previously in the system are being refreshed in all of the literacy materials including teacher evaluation. Meanwhile, Alfalit-Liberia has announced an increase in the number of literacy centers this year from 51 to 75 centers with the establishment of 24 new centers in communities across the counties. The mission of Alfalit is “to eradicate human suffering caused by illiteracy.”Alfalit-Liberia currently operates 52 literacy centers benefiting over 3,000 adult learners and 201 teachers in Montserrado, Grand Bassa, Bong, Bomi and Margibi counties.
