Sanchez’s future remains unclear (Picture: LightRocket via Getty)Alexis Sanchez is set to be offered a fresh escape route out of Manchester United, with Roma keen on taking him on loan next season. Manchester United chiefs are keen to offload the expensive flop but are struggling to find a buyer, largely due to his extortionate £500,000-a-week pay packet. Sanchez, formerly of Arsenal and Barcelona, has had an injury hit season on loan with Inter Milan goal, scoring just one goal in 15 appearances in all competitions. United’s relationship with Roma has been strengthened by Chris Smalling heading on loan to the Stadio Olimpico this season. However, Mkhitaryan has opened the door to a return to the Emirates under new Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, which could see Sanchez head to Rome instead.
