Monrovia - The head of the Financial Intelligence Unit of Liberia has welcomed President George Weah’s “Pro-Poor Agenda”, aimed at reducing poverty. According to Alex Cuffy, “pro-poor policy”, which is used in development circles, directly target poor people through the provision of social services such as road networks and electricity. Articulating the agenda from an anti-corruption perspective, Cuffy believes government will find the money to cater for its people once it deals with the menace. "This will be the beginning of a successful “pro-poor agenda,” Cuffy added. In 2005, Roberts International Airport (RIA) was operating at a loss, had negative cash balance, lacked essential operational and safety equipment, and was far from compliant with international standards.
