Alert Level 1 was raised in Taal Volcano as 40 earthquakes had been recorded there during a 24-hour observation period from Saturday to Sunday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said. Two of the volcanic quakes were felt, the Phivolcs added. Another quake at 7:35 p.m. with Intensity 1 and rumbling sound was felt by residents of Tuuran, Tabla, Talisay, Batangas. Alert 1 or low level of volcanic unrest, which means “hazardous eruption is not imminent,” has been raised in Taal since March 28, 2019. In Cotabato province in southern Mindanao, aftershocks from strong quakes persisted almost two weeks after tremors rocked the province in October.
