Aldi is to pay its almost 4,000 workers in Ireland a 10pc bonus for their efforts during the current Covid-19 crisis. Aldi said it will pay the 10pc bonus on hours worked from March 9 to the end of April. Retail workers at supermarkets across the country have found themselves at the coalface of the pandemic, dealing with a surge in demand for goods. Tesco said the pandemic has resulted in an “unprecedented increase” in demand for food and household products in-store and online. Aldi, along with other supermarket retailers, is currently on a recruitment drive to hire more workers to meet the increased demand at their outlets.
