Aldabaiba and Abusahmain reinstated by court as presidential candidatesBy Sami Zaptia. Tripoli, 1 December 2021:Today, the Tripoli Court of Appeal issued a ruling reinstating acting prime minister and presidential candidate, Abd Alhamid Aldabaiba. Political movement ‘‘Ya Bilad” announced today that the Tripoli Court of Appeal accepted the appeal submitted by its president, Nuri Abu Sahmain, against the decision to exclude him from the list of candidates for the elections for the head of state. It issued a ruling to cancel the decision of the High National Elections Commission (HNEC) to return to the presidential race to contest the 24 December election. Abu Sahmain was a former head of Libya’s first post-Qaddafi democratically elected parliament, the General National Congress (GNC).
