An alcoholic boyfriend on 20 pints a day has been jailed for 16 months after battering his partner so badly that she said she looked like the elephant man. Osborne initially pleaded guilty to charges of assaulting Ms Bevan and causing actual bodily harm. But, when he later disputed the extent of Ms Bevan's injuries, his victim was force to testify against him in a Gloucester Crown Court trial. While in the store Ms Bevan was asked about her injuries by sales assistant Emma Nogle, who alerted her supervisor to call the police. She had a cut lip and severe black eyes and a broken nose.
