The federal app has been downloaded roughly 5.2 million times and used to alert contacts of about 4,200 people who have been diagnosed with COVID-19. Compare that to the Alberta app, which has seen roughly one alert sent for every 13,000 downloads. Alberta Premier Jason Kenney responds to questions about COVID-19 at a news conference on Nov. 2 where he said issues with the Alberta app had been resolved. The Alberta government has repeatedly insisted the ABTraceTogether app better suits the province's needs, however, because the federal app doesn't send data directly to contact tracers.
