Alberta launches final push to boost 1st dose vaccination numbers

Alberta health officials are making one last big push to reach people still waiting to get their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine by adding more walk-in clinics this week. Alberta Health Services (AHS) started offering walk-in appointments on Wednesday for first doses of the Pfizer vaccine. She said she knows many people are itching to get their second dose, but it's more vital to build herd immunity with that first dose before moving ahead full steam on second doses. The province says demand for first doses of the vaccine has been slowing in recent days, while second doses have been ramping up. For second doses, the numbers were 16,218, 26,846 and 24,165 over those same dates.
