Alberta election commissioner hands down more fines in UCP kamikaze investigation

CALGARY—Another $22,000 in fines have been issued by Alberta’s election commissioner against two key figures in Jeff Callaway’s “kamikaze” United Conservative Party leadership campaign. The public list of administrative penalties levelled by the commissioner was updated Monday morning to include six more fines — totalling $12,000 — against Cameron Davies, the co-campaign manager for Callaway’s bid. Some of the individuals mentioned in the most recent round of fines have themselves been fined by the election commissioner in the past. For months, the office of the election commissioner has been investigating irregular financial contributions made to Callaway’s campaign during the 2017 United Conservative Party’s leadership convention.
