The tsunami warning covers coastal areas of Cook Inlet and southern Kenai Peninsula in Alaska. One twitter user said: "This earthquake was felt in Fairbanks, Alaska, 360+ miles from Anchorage". State offices in Alaska will be closed for the day, it has been announced, so damage can be assessed.
