Alappuzha has become the best performing district in the State in terms of providing employment and executing projects under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS). According to statistics, the district generated a whopping 69,98,896 persondays under the scheme so far in 2018-19 (till December 14, 2018). It has already exceeded the target of 47.83 lakh persondays for 2018-19. Second spotThiruvananthapuram district is in the second place with 61.72 lakh workdays so far. Palakkad and Kozhikode generated 55.22 lakh and 53.48 lakh persondays respectively.
