President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi ratified on Monday a law granting social allowances for workers not addressed by the Civil Service Law, local media reported. The special bonus law is drafted by the government for workers and employees who are not working under the Civil Service Law. There are around 6.5 million workers​ in Egypt working for governmental institutions, with only 3.5 million working in accordance with the Civil Service Law. Meanwhile, the remaining will work in accordance with the bonus law. However, Mohamed Maeet, the deputy finance minister, said that keeping Article 5 will reduce the problems on the state budget, as its cancellation will cost the ministry around EGP 18bn.
