Al-Shabaab Kills 12 Ugandan Soldiers in SomaliaJuly 31, 2017 - Al-qaedia’s affiliate in East Africa, al-Shabaab, killed twelve Ugandan soldiers in an ambush attack. Seven Ugandan troops were also wounded in the attack. The African Union Mission of Somalia (AMISOM) has also confirmed the attack on its Twitter page. In a radio message, the al-Qaeda-linked terror group claimed to have killed 39 AMISOM soldiers. The East African country was the first to deploy troops under AMISOM into Somalia in March 2007.
