General News of Saturday, 25 January 2020Source: ghananewsagency.orgAkufo-Addo, NPP stalwarts eulogise Mrs Obetsebi-LampteyLate Augustina Akuorkor Obetsebi-LampteyPresident Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and some New Patriotic Party (NPP) stalwarts Friday paid glowing tributes to Mrs Augustina Akuorko Obetsebi-Lamptey(Nee Cofie), the widow of the national hero and political stalwart, Emmanuel Odarqyaye Obetsebi-Lamptey of the ‘Big Six’ fame. The late Mrs Obetsebi-Lamptey was 95 years (1923-2019) and became Ghana’s first female Ambassador to Liberia in 1970 and a teacher at the Accra Methodist Girls School between 1947 and 1953. President Akufo-Addo, in a tribute read on his behalf, described the late Mrs Obetsebi-Lamptey as a fearless woman who stood behind her husband through thick and thin during the country’s independence struggle and his incarceration by his political opponents. The President sent his condolences to the children and the entire Obetsebi-Lamptey Family and wished them well. The former President noted that the late Mrs Obetsebi-Lamptey was a strong pillar behind her famous husband.
