The CSOs say President Nana Akufo-Addo’s action is a threat to the independence of the office Auditor-General and other independent governance institutions. He added: “We find the entire episode and the justification for the President’s action regrettable and inconsistent with both the letter and spirit of the 1992 Constitution. In a context like that, a fair-minded person is likely to believe that the President is not acting in good faith,” he said. Mr Domelevo had stated after an audit that there was no evidence of work done in that deal.
