Aksem foils attempt by Thai national to smuggle pangolins out of the country


BUKIT KAYU HITAM: The Malaysian Border Security Agency (Aksem) has foiled an attempt by a Thai man to smuggle 60 sacks of live pangolins out of the country Tuesday afternoon. Kedah Aksem commander Abdul Latif Abdul Rahman said the man was driving alone towards the border checkpoint to leave the country. We also five sacks of found pangolin scales. He said the pangolin scales alone could fetch up to RM10,000 per kg. Abd Latiff said the case has been referred to the Peninsular National Parks and Wildlife Department for further action.
