A debut novel hailed as Ireland’s answer to Bridget Jones’s diary has been optioned for a film. Oh my God, what a complete Aisling, written by Emer McLysaght and Sarah Breen, focuses on a rural girl in her twenties adjusting to life in Dublin city. The novel, released in 2017 after starting out as a Facebook page, became a bestseller in Ireland. McLysaght and Breen will work with Element Pictures, the Dublin TV and film group, on writing the screenplay. “We are so delighted to be working with Element to bring Aisling to the screen,” the writers said.
