PHOTO: ODT FILESThe group opposed to an international airport being built at Tarras has taken its argument to Wellington where it believes decisions on airports should be made. Spokesman John Harris said yesterday emails had been sent to Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, Transport Minister Phil Twyford and Green Party leader James Shaw. Christchurch International Airport Ltd is proposing an international airport on 750ha of farm land it has bought at Tarras. But, Mr Harris believed it was the Government’s job to decide how many airports the country had and where they should be. Asked if there might be less vocal members of the community who supported the airport, Mr Harris said he suspected there might be some business people in Cromwell who were "delighted at the prospect".
