The airport incident involving ACTS OFW party-list Rep. Aniceto “John” Bertiz 3rd only reinforces the stereotype of congressmen as rude, abusive and prone to throw their weight around. Bertiz, a neophyte congressman, breached security protocol at Terminal 2 of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) when he refused to take off his shoes for X-ray screening. Everything, unfortunately, was caught in a security video that went viral over the weekend. More appalling was Bertiz’s attempts to rationalize his airport meltdown, which only negated the two public apologies he had made. Airport authorities said they saw no such thing when they reviewed the video.
