That's what happened this summer, when Azriel "Al" Blackman celebrated his 75th year working as an American Airlines Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) Crew Chief. Blackman, 92, began working as a mechanic before American was technically American Airlines. Graduating from New York's Aviation High School at 16, he was hired as an apprentice in the sheet metal shop at American Export Airlines in 1942. "He loves coming to work,” Robert Needham, the station manager for American's New York maintenance base, told the New York Times. Blackman, who already has a mural with his image at the hangar, was presented with something bigger for his 75th anniversary.
