The ride-hailing company lost an estimated $3 billion last year, according to a person familiar with the matter. It takes a commission of 6% to 12% from guest fees, in addition to a small fee it charges hosts. The company still has nearly all of the $3.1 billion in funding it's raised and is looking at investments and acquisitions, the person said. His co-founder Nathan Blecharczyk, who coded the startup's original website, recently transitioned to chief strategy officer, said a spokesman. The company has yet to name Blecharczyk's replacement as chief technology officer.
