AirAsia boosts flights to Boracay jump-off points

MANILA, Philippines — Low-cost carrier AirAsia Philippines has restored its flights from Clark to Kalibo after the service was stopped due to the closure of Boracay Island for rehabilitation. AirAsia Philippines said the thrice weekly flights from Clark to Kalibo, as well as additional flights from Clark to Caticlan commenced last Thursday. The budget carrier’s chief executive office Ricardo Isla said the additional services are in response to the increased demand for flights to Boracay, especially this holiday season. Plagued by environmental issues, Boracay island was closed from tourists for six months last year to pave the way for its rehabilitation. AirAsia Philippines operates a fleet of 24 aircraft on more than 500 weekly domestic and international flights from its hubs in Manila, Clark, Cebu, and Kalibo.
