Air transmission contributes to United Christian Hospital cluster in 12 patients and 7 staffers

Air transmission could be at play for a Covid-19 cluster of 12 patients and seven staffers at United Christian Hospital's palliative care and medical ward, government advisor Yuen Kwok-yung said. He proposed making test mandatory for those who visit patients of the ward, but it won't be necessary to test all patients inside the hospital. She was only diagnosed with the infection on a second test after she developed symptoms in the ward. Yuen suggested stepping up with screening on patients in hospitals, and retest those who have signs of pneumonia and flu symptoms. He said the virus could have spread within the palliative care ward by air transmission, which would explain why patients staying outside the 84-year-old's cubicle and nurses working at the nurse station were also infected.
