The level of fine particles in London air has fallen by about a half since coronavirus lockdown measures have forced people indoors, new data suggests. These promising early signs suggest air pollution could keep falling across UK cities the longer the pandemic goes on. London Air Quality Network, a King’s College London project, comprises of more than 100 continuous monitoring sites in the majority of London’s 33 boroughs. But these figures could help scientists identify a specific cause of lower nitrogen dioxide levels that’s related to measures to halt the spread of coronavirus.
