Air Museum Flies to Higher Ground And Into The Path of Harvey

Doug Owens photoLt. General (ret) Doug Owens understands gratitude. Working alone on Wednesday in the Lone Star Flight Museum just outside of Houston, he is thankful that the brand new, 130 thousand square foot history and education complex suffered little more than a few drips during Hurricane Harvey. The Lone Star Flight Museum on Galveston Island displayed a wide range of military and commercial aircraft, many in flying condition. But in September, 2008, Hurricane Ike, a storm with winds in the 100 mph range, barreled over Galveston leaving 4 to 8 feet of water in the hangars.
