The Bihar government also submitted a list of 75 criminal cases in which Shahabuddin’s name figured. Out of these, he has been convicted in 10 and acquitted in 20, while the remaining 45 are pending trial at various stages. In most of the cases pending against him, trial has been stayed by the Patna high court. The petitions of the Bihar government and Chandrakeshwar Prasad have demanded quashing of the Patna high court’s September 7 order granting bail to the former RJD MP. The top court had on September 19 asked Shahabuddin to respond to the petitions filed by the Bihar government and Prasad challenging the Patna high court’s order granting him bail.
