A MAN arrested over a string of aggravated burglaries and a car crash overnight was allegedly trying to break into another car when taken into custody. Police will allege that about 11.55pm last night a Toyota Kluger was stolen during a home invasion Tait St, Newport. Nearly two hours later the same car struck another vehicle and smashed into a fence more than 30km on the Burwood Highway in Burwood East. The male driver of the car fled the scene and police believe that just before 3am the same man was involved in another burglary in Bellevue Avenue, Burwood East. A 34-year-old Burwood man was arrested about 3.40am while allegedly trying to break into another car and is currently assisting police with their investigations.
