The maker of Dove, Lynx, Rexoa and TRESemmé, Unilever, has announced it will stop photoshopping models in advertising and avoid describing people or attributes as “normal”. Reuters reported the company stopped short of taking its skin-lightening creams off the market, but it promised to stop using “fair” and other related terms. A company-wide policy of not digitally altering images of models had also come into effect, the statement said, after Dove vowed to stop photoshopping models in 2018. It said the ban included editing models’ skin tones, body shape and size.
