After two-year hiatus, Double Ten fireworks to return in Taitung

After a two-year hiatus, the National Day fireworks display will be held in Taitung featuring the largest firework shells ever used in such events. "It will light up the nighttime sky for the entire Taitung," Legislative Yuan President Su Jia-chyuan said of the 24-inch fireworks shells to be deployed in the Oct. 10 display when examining the venue in the Eastern Taiwan county Monday. Two previous fireworks display were canceled due to the New Taipei City water-park explosion that killed 15 on Jun. 27, 2016, and the earthquake that killed 117 in Southern Taiwan on Feb. 3, 2016, respectively. Su said that invitations have been sent to former presidents Ma Ying-jeou and Chen Shui-bian for the display.
