The RAB earlier arrested cartoonist Ahmed Kabir Kishore and writer Mushtaq Ahmed on charges of peddling lies against the government on social media in the same case. The elite police unit apprehended Kishore from Kakrail while Mushtaq was arrested at his home in Lalmatia on Tuesday. According to the case started by Deputy Assistant Director Zahirul Islam of RAB-3, information from Mushtaq on his associates led to the arrests of Didarul and Minhaz. They chatted on WhatsApp and Messenger that were “conspiratorial against the state”, the RAB official said in the case. He claimed he was late to bring charges because he needed to interrogate the accused first.
