A group of students on Tuesday protested against the University of Mumbai (MU) for increasing examination fee. While the decision to increase the remuneration was implemented in the last phase of examination itself, the fee hike was introduced in the current phase of examination. The students are now asked to pay Rs1,560 against the old fee of Rs 650 for one exam. Between the assessment mess and exam fee hike, the students have reached their tolerance limit,” said Amol Matele, Mumbai president, NSC. The exam fee hike comes after lakhs of students had to wait endlessly for their results of exams held in the first half of the year, as the varsity grappled with an on-screen assessment process.
