His aim is to create a political party there with the goal of winning enough seats to name him prime minister. But now, Jawar and his Oromo followers accuse the prime minister of hypocrisy. Like Jawar, Abiy is Oromo, but the prime minister has downplayed his ethnicity as part of his efforts to unify the country. The merger could help avert further ethnic violence.
