Trump promised during the election campaign to fall in line with Republican Party positions to strip Planned Parenthood of federal funding, which could harm the group’s effort to provide health services including birth control to women. Across the country, women are rushing to Planned Parenthood health centers an unusual jump in appointments for outpatient care and birth control in particular since the election. “Online appointments for birth control increased 56 percent in the last eight days, compared to the eight days before (the election),” the Daily Herald said. But Planned Parenthood and supporters aren’t taking anything for granted heading into next year. “The Affordable Care Act has had a huge impact on millions of people, particularly people of color, who often face systemic barriers to health care,” Planned Parenthood’s Dr. McDonald-Mosley said.
