On Monday, Ghaffary will become Canvas Ventures’ fourth general partner, joining the Portola Valley-based venture firm known for bets on wedding company Zola and trucking startup Transfix. “Things happen for a reason.”The two started talking again after Ghaffary left Social Capital and was doing independent investing. He started to sit in on partner meetings and investment decisions with Canvas’ three-partner team, which also includes Gary Little and Paul Hsiao. “This is the first time that there’s a wave of consumer tech IPOs right here in San Francisco,” Ghaffary said.
