But whether or not supporters gather enough signatures to put the secession measure on the 2018 ballot, the state has already rejected the Trump Administration’s agenda. He has also joined the governors of New York and Washington state in rallying a coalition of states to support the Paris accord. Instead, the state Senate passed a bill last week authorizing universal healthcare for everyone in California – a model similar to that of Medicare known as a “single payer” measure. As part of the bill, the state Senate authorized the state to oversee health care and pay providers directly, getting rid of healthcare premiums and co-pays.
