The streets of downtown Montreal have been peppered with strip clubs for decades, but only one of those was geared primarily toward women. Now, after 40 years, patrons of Club 281 will have to find somewhere else to spend their nights. Founded by France Delisle, Club 281 first opened its doors on 281 Sainte-Catherine Street East on April 14, 1980. Club 281 was the first and only male strip club in downtown Montreal to be primarily geared towards women. She hopes that, even if no one buys her club, someone will eventually start something similar in Montreal.
