It represents a hub for African trade, exportation and supply of ready-made garments, spinning and textiles, home furnishings, and accessories.Destination Africa has greatly contributed to a huge year-over-year growth in investments and exportations within the said field. Textile exports increased by 10% during the first nine months of 2019, recording about $ 2.6 billion compared to $ 2.3 billion during the same period last year. Meanwhile garments exports accounted for about $ 1.3 billion compared to $ 1.2 billion in 2018.Destination Africa’19 is bringing together the African Textile, Apparel and Home Textiles manufactures under one roof with international buyers to strengthen the business opportunities and trade activities on a global level. The exhibition also includes regional pavilions including Tunisia, Morocco, South Africa, Rwanda, Algeria and Ethiopia.The exhibition is organized by the Textiles, Apparel & Home Textiles Export Council of Egypt (TAHTEC), and the Egyptian Exporters Association-ExpoLink, in cooperation with the Export Development Authority. The fourth edition is sponsored by Intertek for Quality and Safety Services, Oeko-Tex for ready-made garments, and Rieter Machine Works.Inaugurated by Amr Nassar, Minister of Trade and Industry, Destination Africa kicks-off on November 9th-11th at the Royal Maxim Palace Kempinski in Cairo, in presence of Ambassador Nabla Makram, Minister of Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs, as well as Hesham Tawfik, Minister of Public Enterprise Sector.
