This was the third time India won the Asia Cup. India, ranked sixth in the world, were in for a nervous last 10 minutes, as Malaysia went full throttle for an equaliser. It was not a lop-sided affair like their Super 4s contest, when India defeated Malaysia 6-2. But the goal came late in the quarter as India double their lead through a fine counter-attack. India went in the half-time break with two-goal lead.
