Doctors at the National Institute of Neurosciences and Hospital in Dhaka declared Afsana Khanam dead at 9am on Friday. The medical condition of Afsana went from bad to worse on Thursday and she had been on ventilation since then. A former Bangladesh Air Force officer, Abid was flying the US-Bangla plane that crashed in Nepal on Mar 12. With his mother in hospital, 16-year-old Tanzib went to receive the body of his father with his uncles at the Army Stadium on Monday, when a funeral service was held for 23 Bangladeshi victims. Abid, who hailed from the northern district of Naogaon, was educated at the Dhaka Residential Model College before joining the Bangladesh Air Force Academy.
