Amado Espino 3rd confirmed on Monday that African swine fever (ASF) has reached the province. Espino said officials are manning 11 animal quarantine checkpoints established by the provincial government with the help of the police. Two swine traders, Roger Erpelo and Jaime Garcia, will be charged for violating the ban on transporting hogs from areas infected with the swine fever. Agriculture Secretary Wiliam Dar said 20,000 pigs have been culled since the ASF virus was detected in the country.
