It is interesting to note that mission-driven agritech startups are also a part of this growth despite the investment risks associated with the space. We earlier reported how African agri-tech startups fared in 2021, showing how the funding season favoured the agritech ecosystem better than what it accrued in 2020 and 2019. Last year, the African agri-tech space received a total funding of $95,101,000, accounting for 4.4 per cent of total funding for African tech startups, a 58.5 per cent increase from $59,990,000 (8.6 per cent of total) in 2020.
