Africa exceeds 6mln Covid-19 cases amid a resurgence in delta variant


With over 2.22 million cases recorded to date, South Africa remains the most affected country on the continent. Africa has just exceeded six million cases of coronavirus, according to the latest report from the African Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) published on Tuesday 13 July. Comparing regions, Southern Africa remains the most affected with 2.9 million cases, the majority of cases having been recorded in South Africa, which remains the most affected African country to date. North Africa follows with 1.7 million cases, East Africa with more than 752,200 cases. West Africa has more than 497,000 cases, and Central Africa has a little more than 196,000 cases.
