Unfortunately, however, the topic of racism has historically been treated with an airy nonchalance in Africa. As of 2017, according to United Nations, more than 51 per cent of sub-Saharan Africa migrants living in the US were from Nigeria, Ethiopia, Ghana and Kenya. Additionally, between 2010 and 2017, the population of Somalian and Eritrean migrants living in Europe increased by 80,000 and 40, 000 people respectively. Our silence is the greatest misdoing in the fight against racism. For some reason, Africans are collectively unconscious of the phenomenology of racism and its foundation, perhaps because of weak national consciousness.
