Politics of Wednesday, 4 February 2026Source: www.ghanaweb.comAspiring National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Awentami Paul Afoko, has called for unity and discipline within the party following the election of former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as the NPP’s flagbearer for the 2028 general elections. “The task before us is clear: to reorganize, reconnect with the Ghanaian people and present a credible pathway to national renewal,” Afoko said. According to him, the aspirants did not weaken the NPP by contesting but rather expanded it by engaging members and enriching internal debate. Addressing party executives and grassroots members nationwide, Afoko emphasised the need for cohesion following the conclusion of the internal contest. Afoko signed off the message as “Yours in Unity and Service,” reaffirming his commitment as an aspiring National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party.
