Officials confirmed that there had been casualties in the explosion in Kabul, but could not say how many JAWAD JALALI/EPAA suicide bomber blew himself up inside a Shia mosque during Friday prayers in Kabul today in a terrorist attack that is still ongoing, Afghan officials said. Abdul Basir Mujahid, a spokesman for Kabul police, said a suicide bomber had “detonated himself inside the mosque”, adding that there were casualties but he could not confirm how many. It is thought that another two or three other militants had also entered the mosque and were exchanging fire with police. “The bombers are running short of bullet rounds and they are using knives to stab worshippers,” a witness told AFP. The interior ministry confirmed that a “terrorist attack” had taken place and residents of the city reported that they could hear gunshots.
