The case of the murder of Assistant Police Inspector Ashwini Bidre is turning out to be an extramarital affair gone sour. The accused in this case is her colleague, Inspector Abhay Kurundkar, attached with Thane Rural Police, who has been arrested. The Navi Mumbai crime branch has claimed that the arrest of the fourth accused led to the revelation that Bidre was killed and her body chopped into pieces and dumped in Bhayander-Vasai creek. Bidre was promoted as API and posted with the Protection of Civil Rights unit in Belapur near Navi Mumbai. "Prima facie, investigation reveals that Bidre was coaxing Kurundkar to get married but the accused was already married and had no intention of legally marrying the victim, which led to the brutal murder," said Nilesh Raut, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Navi Mumbai Crime Branch.
